i wonder what a non-capitalist education would look like. no hierarchy, no grading, no standardized testing and placing immense value on it. no teaching for regurgitation. teaching based on a students pace not perceived age. no focusing on producing work and being complacent. teaching on how to think and question and help students find the answers to their own questions instead of giving the answer away. teaching to promote learning and producing genuine loves of labor not mandatory assignments. perfecting the mind of being well rounded not stressing one subject over another. teaching individuals and future adults of the world to think for themselves and always question and inquire and research. teaching to be unashamed of not knowing the answer, teaching to not fear the unknown, learning that life isn’t competition with each other but oneself. teaching to love what you do and to become better to improve the world.

Most men never think about patriarchy—what it means, how it is created and sustained. Many men in our nation would not be able to spell the word or pronounce it correctly. The word “patriarchy” just is not a part of their normal everyday thought or speech. Men who have heard and know the word usually associate it with women’s liberation, with feminism, and therefore dismiss it as irrelevant to their own experiences. I have been standing at podiums talking about patriarchy for more than thirty years. It is a word I use daily, and men who hear me use it often ask me what I mean by it.

Nothing discounts the old antifeminist projection of men as all-powerful more than their basic ignorance of a major facet of the political system that shapes and informs male identity and sense of self from birth until death.

the fact that some people on this site are sexually aroused by benevolent cucumberpatch  is proof that someone will find you attractive no matter how ugly you may be. there is always hope

Bad books on writing tell you to ‘WRITE WHAT YOU KNOW’, a solemn and totally false adage that is the reason there exist so many mediocre novels about English professors contemplating adultery.
